Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme, also known as Sonic Extreme, was guessed to be an early pitch demo that ended up developing into the game Sonic Riders. The game was probably made around 2004 or 2005. Earlier in 2011, a demo was found on an XDK unit. The game might have been originally called Sonic Extreme Racing in early development.
Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme was developed by Visionscape Interactive as a game pitch to SEGA. A similar game was eventually produced called Tech Deck: Bare Knuckle Grind. This game was also located on the same XDK development Xbox unit purchased by ProtonX, but, unlike Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme, Tech Deck: Bare Knuckle Grind saw an eventual release on PC in 2005.
While Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme was never officially released, footage of the game was received very poorly by the video game press.
On May 17, 2016, a YouTube user named PtoPOnline which specially focus on unreleased video games and unofficial ports uploaded a full playthrough of the game. You can watch it here:
